EFFECTIVE PROJECT MANAGEMENT
Abram Hillson, New Jersey Housing and Mortgage Finance Agency (NJHMFA)
Abram Hillson received an award for "Outstanding Project Management" at the HUD national HMIS conference in September.
Abram has been at the helm of the twenty county New Jersey HMIS implementation since its inception over four years ago. The strength in project management that Abram has exhibited has resulted in more than 1200 users entering data into the HMIS for over 600 programs serving the homeless throughout New Jersey. All of these efforts have resulted in the collection of data on over 80,000 unduplicated homeless individuals and families. Abram has worked with State partners in HMIS to encourage, and even require, the participation of programs beyond just the McKinney- Vento programs. As a founding participant in the Mid-Atlantic Regional HMIS group (MARHMIS) Abram continues to be an active participant and provider of advice and guidance to other group members working in smaller implementations and differently challenging HMIS environments. He is a dedicated individual who tirelessly works with the vendor for customizations of the application to make users even more comfortable using HMIS as not just a required tool but for its many other features that could benefit the agency as a whole.
