HMFA Hosts Weeklong Foreclosure Prevention Training
On January 12th through the 16th, HMFA hosted and co-sponsored H0345 Foreclosure Intervention and Default Counseling Certification Training Part I, administered by NeighborWorks® America. This course offers valuable training to build and strengthen foreclosure intervention and default counseling. It is also a required certification course for foreclosure prevention counselors in all the counseling agencies participating in HMFA Foreclosure Prevention Programs. HMFA hosted this program for the second time (the last one being in April 2008) in order to equip more counselors facing ever increasing numbers of troubled homeowners behind in their mortgage payments. Many of the newly certified counselors are filling the shoes of those who have gone on to counsel homeowners through the NJ Judiciary Foreclosure Mediation Program, which requires further training specific to the needs of those who are already in the foreclosure process.
“This is a serious crisis and we will continue to seek out ways we can help in these difficult times,” said Commissioner Doria. |
